1. Eligibility

To be eligible, an individual must create a free account at app.societyofwriters.com and either (1) post a picture of their Halloween costume (2), post a picture of their pet’s Halloween costume, or (3) respond to the Halloween writing prompt. Participants must reside in the United States and be at least 18 years of age or older to enter. 

2. Sponsorship

This giveaway is sponsored by the Society of Writers, LLC (“Sponsor”). 

3. Agreement to Rules

By entering this giveaway, participants agree to abide by the Sponsor’s Official Rules and decisions. The Sponsor reserves the right to refuse, withdraw, or disqualify entries at the Sponsor’s sole discretion. All participants agree to accept the decision of the Sponsor as final and binding.

4. Entry Period

Entries can be submitted as early as October 27, 2022 at 9:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST) and all entries must be received by October 31, 2022 at 11:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST) to be considered valid. 

5. How to Enter

Participants who submit a costume photo and/or complete the writing prompt will gain one entry into the contest. Only one person per household may participate. Fraudulent methods of entry or circumvention of the rules may result in the Sponsor invalidating a participant’s entries.

6. Prizes

One random participant will be selected to receive a gift box valued at approximately $50 USD. The prize may be substituted at the Sponsor’s sole discretion. The prize is not redeemable for cash value. Acceptance of the prize grants the Sponsor permission to use the winner’s entry, name, and likeness for advertising, promotion, and trade without further compensation or remuneration unless prohibited by law.

7. Odds

The odds of winning are dependent upon the number of eligible entries received. 

8. Selection and Notification of the Winner

At approximately October 31, 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST), one entry will be chosen via a random drawing. After validating the entry, the winning participant will be notified via message at app.societyofwriters.com and their name will be announced by the Society of Writers. The winner has seven (7) business days to confirm their eligibility and mailing address or the prize may be forfeited.

The Sponsor is not liable for the winner’s failure to receive notification of winning. Receipt of the prize is upon the condition of compliance with federal, state, and local laws. 

9. Rights Granted by the Entrant

Upon submission of an entry into the giveaway or contest, the participant grants to the Sponsor the right to use the participant’s name, image, and statements about the contest for publicity, news, advertising, promotional purposes, trade, and so forth, without any further notice, review, consent, compensation or remuneration.

10. Terms & Conditions

The Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify anyone who violates the terms and may seek damages to the fullest extent permitted by law in cases where a participant has caused deliberate damage or undermined the legal operation of the promotion.

The Sponsor reserves the right to modify, suspend, cancel or terminate the giveaway in the event that non-authorized human intervention, a bug or virus, fraud, or other causes beyond control impact or corrupt the security, fairness, proper conduct, or administration of the giveaway.

11. Limitation of Liability

The participant’s entry into the giveaway constitutes his or her agreement to release and hold harmless the Sponsor and its employees, subsidiaries, and affiliates against all claims of liability, illness, injury, death, or loss that occurs directly or indirectly from participation in the contest or use/misuse of the awarded prize.

12. Disputes

The entrant agrees, as a condition of participating in the promotion, that disputes not resolved between the participant and the Sponsor shall be individually resolved exclusively before a court located in Idaho, without resorting to any form of class action. Entrants waive all rights to punitive, incidental, or consequential damages and entrants waive all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.

14. Social Media Platform Rules

The giveaway hosted by the Society of Writers is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with LinkedIn.

15. Affirmation of Acceptance of and Agreement to All of the Official Rules

By entering the contest, the entrant has affirmatively reviewed, accepted, and agreed to all of the terms, conditions, stipulations, and rules described herein.
